This deck from Ready Hour features 48 different edible plants found in the North American wilderness. The Ready Hour Edible Wild Foods Playing Cards deck is full of valuable, survival information. Sometimes, you have to forage off the land for food!
MADE IN THE USA!
Each edible plant is shown in a full-color photograph for easy identification. A map identifies the geographic areas or zones where the plant grows in the wild.
Plant habitats are associated with a card's background color and include shady/cooler areas, woodland edges, meadows/slopes/sun, dry conditions, moist conditions, urban areas, and more. Sub-habitats are the colored stripes next to the background color.
The card face explains warnings, characteristics, uses, plant parts, aliases and special cooking hints. For example, the stems, leaves, flowers, and hips of roses can be eaten raw, sautéed or steamed.
Each Ready Hour Edible Wild Plants 48-card deck comes with a key chain to keep the cards handy during hikes and camping trips. This deck is ideal for hikers, campers, scouts, survival experts, gourmet cooks and parents wanting to teach their children about the abundance of wild food around them. These Ready Hour Wild Plants Playing Cards have traditional suit marks and can be used for many fun card games or poker.
The cards measure 3.5 x 2.5 inches, same as a standard playing card.
